In Germany and many other countries, used clothing is legally classified as domestic waste. Nevertheless, used textiles do not belong in the bin! Each year, FWS sorting operations alone keep a half a million tons of textiles from winding up in a waste incinerator. A lot of perfectly good clothing takes on a second life.
Collecting used textiles makes good sense, because it reduces household waste, protects the environment and saves valuable resources.
